 International Yoga Day,June 21,YOGA DAY LOGOJune 21 was declared as the International Day of Yoga by the United Nations General Assembly on December 11, 2014.

Yoga, a physical, mental and spiritual practice having its origin over 6000 years ago in India, aims to integrate the body and the mind.

The declaration of this day came after the call for the adoption of 21 June as International Day of Yoga by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his address to UN General Assembly.

“Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness within yourself, the world and the nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help us deal with climate change. Let us work towards adopting anInternational Yoga Day .

Peanuts ‘slash risk of cancer, dementia, heart attacks and diabetes’
Those who ate 10g of nuts a day were less likely to die from major diseases

These included respiratory diseases, neuro degenerative diseases, diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular diseases
Link between peanuts and lower death rates was as strong as other nuts

Peanut butter offered no protective effect; researchers explained high levels of vegetable oils and salt could ‘cancel out’ health benefits of nuts

The effects were found to be equal in men and women, they revealed.

And people who ate peanuts showed just as strong reductions in mortality as those who ate tree nuts like cashews, almonds, pecans and walnuts, among others.

However, researchers found no protective effect from eating peanut butter.

They explained this may be because the salt and vegetable oils it contains ‘cancel out’ the beneficial effects of the nuts.

Lie on your back with your feet flat on the floor and your knees pointed toward the ceiling. Inhale slowly through your nose for 6 counts.

Hold your breath for 3 counts.
Slowly exhale for 12 counts.
Hold your breath for 3 counts.
Continue this breathing pattern for 15 minutes.
